In 1997, CBC Real Estate Group* served as the Owner’s Representative for Sprint in the development of its 200-acre, 4.1 million square-foot campus with over four million square feet of parking garages. This is one of the largest single and continuous office development projects ever developed in the country. The Owner’s Representative’s responsibilities on the Sprint Campus project included a full range of development activities extending from complete management of the project budget and schedule, approvals, MBE/WBE programs, management and coordination of construction managers, contractors and sub-contractors, coordination of architects and consultants, as well as assisting Sprint in the development of such ancillary on-site facilities as food service, retail support services and fitness center.
Over a six-year period, development activities included master planning, design, procurement, construction and delivery of 4.1 million square feet — which was completed ahead of schedule, under budget and without claim or lawsuit from a subcontractor or vendor.
From 1997 to 2003, Crandall managed a full-time and part-time project management staff that provided services to Sprint for the development of the campus. At its peak, there were five professional management staff, two accounting staff and one administrative support staff working on the project.
* CBC Managing Principal, Bill Crandall, performed this role while under the employ of another firm.
