The CBC Owner’s Representative Team, led by CBC and comprised of Wellner Architects, Olsson, LINK and Parson + Associates, was selected in May 2019 to represent the City of Kansas City, Mo. for the redevelopment of the parking garage and plaza facility at Barney Allis Plaza.
Flanked by some of the most iconic buildings in the heart of downtown Kansas City, the Barney Allis Plaza and Kansas City Convention Center parking facility has been a landmark in Kansas City for more than 60 years. However, the City recognized that the years have not been kind to the underground 1,000 vehicle parking garage structure, and the park space has been underutilized and in need of a facelift.
To complete the assignment, the CBC team is collaboratively evaluating both onsite solutions and offsite options to reduce costs, decrease down-time / disruption and maximize the ultimate civic use of the Barney Allis Plaza property.
As Owner’s Representative, the team will provide program development for convention center parking, site selection for above ground parking structures, program development for plaza event space, design management and design bridging documents, pre-construction, design-build procurement assistance, program management and construction observation services and financing.
Project completion is slated for Fall 2023.
