In early 2006, the Stowers Institute for Medical Research appointed CBC Real Estate Group’s Managing Principal, Bill Crandall, as Owner’s Representative for the development of its Phase II expansion. As Owner’s Representative, Crandall’s role included pre-development planning, team selection, management of the design and construction, as well as overall responsibility for delivery of Phase II of the Stowers Institute.
Working with Stowers and J.E. Dunn, Crandall selected Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK) to provide master planning and architectural services.
Phase II of the Stowers Institute would have doubled the size of its existing 600,000 square-foot campus at an estimated cost of approximately $350 million. The project did not move forward. If it had, Crandall would have been responsible for overall management of the project’s day-to-day activity and in general, representing the interests of the Institute.
